The yard
Producer of oysters in Kerboxeur, Saint Helena, since 1920, Jean-Pierre took over the construction site in 1992, after his father and grandfather, founder of the company. Still working on the original site, oysters are raised on different parks in the Ria d'Etel representing 12 hectares and an annual production of about 60 tons.
A very manual profession, oysters work at the yard for dubbing as they grow (three-year cycle), calibration, packaging and sale. The work on Parks, at low tide, consists of regularly stirring the oil pockets placed on tables, constituting oyster parks, lifting them and resting before and after work at the site.
